The Civic Museum is the hub of the cultural activity of the village
Today the collection of finds finally finds a wider location in the rooms of the former convent of the Augustinian Fathers near the sanctuary of S. Maria della Sughera. This location has undoubtedly had the merit of allowing the recovery and usability of a historical structure, abandoned for a long time, which has considerable importance in the history of the country: the church and the adjoining convent were in fact built starting from the beginning of the sixteenth century, at the behest of Agostino Chigi.
After the restoration work, the cloister of the convent has regained a quiet and intimate atmosphere. Around it there are reception services, the area for temporary exhibitions and a large conference room intended to host cultural initiatives. The exhibition is located on the upper floor, of which the main wing is currently open to visitors and houses mainly Etruscan finds. Particular attention is paid to the illustration of cult practices and aspects related to funerary archaeology, which represent the common thread of the entire exhibition. The grave goods from the main necropolises of the area have therefore found a place, among which ample space has been reserved for the materials from Pian della Conserva and Castellina del Ferrone, which can be counted among the most representative and certainly best investigated sites in the area.
Particularly suggestive is the reconstruction of a scaled-down burial chamber that houses the finds from a tomb discovered in 1995 in the Ferrone necropolis, reconstructing their location at the time of discovery.
