Ladispoli
A seemingly moden city with a long past
Starting from Rome, Ladispoli is the first city you come across on the Aurelia. The thousand-year history of the place immediately appears to us as we walk along the beach that from Palo Laziale leads to Ladispoli, where you can admire the remains of Roman and Etruscan origin. In Marina di Palo you can admire the Roman villa and the grottaccia. In Marina di San Nicola you find yourself in front of the remains of the magnificent villa of Pompey. Another enchanting place is the Posta Vecchia, cradle of over two centuries of history
The wealth of Ladispoli, in addition to the peculiar blackish sand, is certainly found in the particular amenity of the landscape. The oldest finds have been identified in the Torre Flavia wildlife oasis. However, the most important evidence dates back to the Etruscans. From the Etruscan period, it is possible to visit the Necropolis, located in the town of Monteroni. Thanks to Roman domination, the town established itself as a summer residence of important Roman figures who had their villas right here. Ladispoli was then destroyed during the Greek-Gothic wars.
During the 20th century, Ladispoli underwent a notable transformation, becoming one of the most important centres for seaside tourism in Lazio.
