Bracciano
A medieval village overlooking the lake
The Odescalchi Castle stands majestically overlooking the lake. The streets that animate the village surround the irregularly shaped fortifications, forming a dense network of narrow streets characterized by lava stone.
The village of Bracciano is located on the westen shore of the ancient Lake Sabatino. The territory, once owned by the Prefects of Vico, passed into the hands of the Orsini family around the 15th century. It was they who transformed the ancient fortress into the imposing Castle that can still be visited today. Since 1696, the property has passed to the Odescalchi, thanks to whom the ancient glories have been preserved over time. Walking through the picturesque alleys of the village you reach the Belvedere della Sentinella, considered a strategic point to enjoy an unparalleled view of the entire lake basin. After admiring the Collegiate Church of Santo Stefano and the Civic Museum, you can further discover the local landscape through the paths organized by the Regional Natural Park
