Ancient ruins among moden buildings
Starting from Rome, Ladispoli is the first town you come across on the Aurelia. Traveling along the beach that leads from Palo Laziale to Ladispoli, the thousand-year history of this place becomes evident, where you can admire remains of Roman and Etruscan origin. In Marina di Palo you can see the Roman villa and the grottaccia. In Marina di San Nicola you find yourself in front of the notable remains of Pompey's villa. Another enchanting place is the Posta Vecchia, cradle of over two centuries of history.
Ladispoli is particularly sought after for the beauty of its landscape and the peculiarity of its beach, characterized by blackish sand. The oldest finds have been identified in the Torre Flavia wildlife oasis. However, the most important evidence dates back to the Etruscans. From the Etruscan period, it is possible to visit the Necropolis, located in the town of Monteroni. With Roman domination, the town established itself as a summer residence for important people who built their villas here. Ladispoli was then destroyed during the Greek-Gothic wars, in the 6th century AD
During the 20th century, Ladispoli experienced notable growth, becoming one of the most important centres for seaside tourism in Lazio.
